Cynthia is a third-generation California attorney. Her grandfather and father were both lawyers practicing in Los Angeles and surrounding areas in Orange County. Cynthia followed in their footsteps, earning her Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Western State University College of Law in 1999. She received her undergraduate degree in nursing from Loma Linda University in 1985, graduating at the top of her class. Cynthia is a dedicated advocate for survivors of sexual abuse, bringing a rare combination of legal skill and medical insight to her role at Kayla’s Survivors. As a key member of the firm’s Sexual Abuse team, she provides trauma-informed representation to individuals seeking justice for the harm they’ve endured. Her client-centered approach is rooted in decades of litigation experience and a prior career in nursing, allowing her to approach complex, sensitive cases with both empathy and precision.
Before joining OnderLaw and Kayla’s Survivors, Cynthia built a distinguished legal career that spans appellate work, mass torts, and catastrophic injury litigation. She served as a partner at Robinson Calcagnie, Inc., where she was part of the trial team that secured a $417 million verdict against Johnson & Johnson in a high-profile talcum powder case—work that earned her the California Lawyer Attorney of the Year (CLAY) award in 2017. Her legal career began after completing a judicial externship with Presiding Justice David G. Sills of the California Court of Appeals. She later gained experience in medical malpractice, elder abuse, and pharmaceutical litigation while working with firms handling complex, high-stakes cases.
With a strong foundation in medicine and having earned her nursing degree from Loma Linda University and working 12 years in critical and emergency care, Cynthia has become a nationally recognized voice in pharmaceutical mass torts. She has served on numerous plaintiff steering committees and expert witness panels in multi-district litigation across the country and has been invited to speak before the FDA and at legal conferences nationwide.
Cynthia is admitted to practice in all California state courts, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, and the United States Supreme Court. She holds numerous honors and accolades, including recognition by Southern California Super Lawyers, the National Association of Distinguished Counsel, and Martindale-Hubbell’s AV Preeminent rating, and has many successful California lawsuits on behalf of Kayla’s Survivors and OnderLaw.
