Piney Ridge Center Lawsuit & Case Timeline
Piney Ridge Center, now operating as Perimeter Behavioral of Missouri, has faced serious allegations and multiple lawsuits over the years, revealing a troubling pattern of misconduct and systemic failures. Behind its image of therapeutic care and emotional support, disturbing stories have surfaced, exposing a much darker reality experienced by those who were meant to find healing within its walls. These allegations are not isolated, they reveal a history of harm, negligence, and violation of trust.
In December 2021, Piney Ridge Center agreed to a $504,250.46 settlement with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office. The settlement addressed allegations that between September 2019 and August 2020, the center submitted false claims to Missouri’s Medicaid program, MO HealthNet, for therapy sessions that were never provided. Investigations revealed that Piney Ridge billed for mandatory therapy sessions, two per week, each lasting at least one hour. Neither of which ever occurred. This deceptive practice not only violated state regulations but also deprived vulnerable children of the critical therapeutic care they desperately needed.
Further concerns about the facility’s operations surfaced through employee reviews describing the work environment as “toxic” and “unsafe.” Staff members reported high turnover rates, inadequate training, and insufficient staffing levels, raising serious questions about the quality of care provided to residents. These reports suggest a culture of neglect and instability, contradicting the center’s claims of offering a supportive and nurturing environment.
These allegations have cast a dark shadow over Piney Ridge Center’s reputation, revealing a disturbing pattern of negligence, misconduct, and abuse of responsibility. At Kayla’s Survivors, we believe that no child should suffer in silence, especially in a place meant to provide safety and healing. If you or someone you love was harmed at Piney Ridge Center, we are here to listen, to stand with you, and to fight to hold abusers accountable.
