According to the complaint, an adult pretended to be a child on Roblox to target the girl, then continued the exploitation via Discord by exchanging graphic sexual messages and images.

Sept. 23, 2025 – North Carolina Teen Lawsuit: A 14-year-old girl in North Carolina (Wake County) filed a federal lawsuit against Roblox and Discord, alleging she was groomed and sexually abused by an online predator she met on the gaming platform at age 13. The lawsuit claims the predator used Roblox to approach and gain the trust of the girl, then exploited both Roblox and Discord to continue the abuse, which included the coercion of sexual acts.

The suit claims an adult predator, posing as a fellow child, contacted the girl through Roblox’s in-game messaging and began grooming her there. The predator then migrated the conversation to Facebook, where he coerced the child into sending him explicit photographs and in return sent graphic sexual content to her.

Sept. 15, 2025 – Oklahoma AG Initiates Action: Oklahoma Attorney General, Gentner Drummond, announced he is taking the first steps toward legal action against Roblox over child safety failures. . On Sept. 15, Drummond’s office issued a request for proposals to hire outside counsel to investigate and potentially sue Roblox. Sept. 4, 2025 – Oklahoma Family “Sextortion” Lawsuit: An Oklahoma family filed a federal lawsuit in Oklahoma City alleging Roblox was used as a “hunting ground for child-sex predators” in the sextortion of their 12-year-old daughter. According to the complaint, a 40-year-old man posed as a 15-year-old boy on Roblox, gained the girl’s trust, and coerced her into sending explicit photos; he then threatened to kill her family if she didn’t continue complying

Aug. 28, 2025 – Michigan Family Sues Roblox & Discord: Media reported a lawsuit filed on Aug. 27 in the U.S. District Court for Western Michigan by a family from Dickinson County, MI, against Roblox and Discord. Aug. 15, 2025 – Federal Lawsuit Filed in California: Following the Louisiana suit, a new federal lawsuit was filed in the Northern District of California on behalf of a 10-year-old girl from Michigan who was groomed and extorted on Roblox. .
